Masterpoint Regulations
7.1 Pigment colors#
Masterpoints are awarded in colors — black, silver, red, gold and platinum — according to the event at which they are won. Rank advancement requires prescribed amounts of each color; see Masterpoints, explained for the member-facing summary.
7.2 Rating an event#
Every sanctioned event has a rating that sets its base award. Club games, sectionals, regionals and NABC events carry progressively higher ratings.
7.3 Award tables#
Overall awards are computed from tables 7.3a–7.3c by event rating, session count, and table count. The tables below are authoritative for computing awards; the Codification 4.2.1 — Overall awards governs how they are applied to restricted NABC+ events.
| Table | Applies to | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| 7.3a | Open events | Rating × sessions × field factor |
| 7.3b | Stratified events | Per-strat placement within the field |
| 7.3c | Restricted events | 7.3a scaled by the restriction factor |
Awards are rounded to the nearest hundredth of a masterpoint. Where an award would exceed the limit in Codification 4.2.3 — Award limits, the limit applies.
7.4 Recording awards#
Awards are recorded to the member's account within 48 hours of results being accepted. Corrections follow the process in the Codification appeals procedure.
